A Spooktacular Craft: DYI Pumpkin Halloween Wreath

Hey y'all! I had some gran-douses plans for this month then I blinked and here we are at October 28th already! EEEKKK I had planned on sharing my Spooktacular Craft Series for the month of October..... well life happens. LOL Since I am stuck at home for the most part due to the covid I decided hey after being in our house for almost 17 years I should actually decorate outside for Halloween! I literally have the best husband ever he goes to the stores and face times me so I can shop. lol

So jumping in with a fun and inexpensive project I created this year for Halloween. I have never made a Halloween Wreath before so I decided to give it a shot. You know me I am all about diy projects too! Once you read through this tutorial, you’ll have your very own handmade Halloween wreath too!

Let's rock this Halloween Wreath Project! As you can imagine being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator and a avid craftier I have a ton of stuff to use up! I did purchase some of the core items at the Dollar Tree but maybe you too have some of the supplies you can just pull out of your stash to create this spooky project. I saw the adorable spider  bowls at the Dollar Tree and decided to turn them into a wreath. If you don't have these you can purchase the metal wreath or the one of the foam wreaths that they have.

Halloween Wreath Overview

Difficulty: Easy!!!
Time: 30 min if you've made wreaths before otherwise it took me 1 hour

WRAP THE DOOR HANGER ON THE DIY HALLOWEEN WREATH: First thing you'll want to do is wrap the door hanger around the spider web basket. I feed it through the slots and bent over the hanger part and used some of my retired Stampin' Up! Craft wire to secure it in place. Then set the basket aside.

PREP THE FLOWERS FOR THE DIY HALLOWEEN WREATH: Next I moved onto the flowers prepping them to add to the spider web bowl. I went with a mixture of spooky and regular. The orange ones came from my stash that I had picked up at Walmart for some party favors I did and was left over. I only cut 3 orange flowers off. My Walmart still had some in stock. For the black ones I picked them up at the Dollar Tree. They had these flowers with eyeballs. Creeepppy and perfect for Halloween! So you'll want to go through and use your pliers to cut them off the stems close to the base. Then pulled off the leaves, spiders, and sprigs.

Once your all done you will have this. A nice little pile ready for you before you start putting the DIY Halloween Wreath together.

GLUE THE FLOWERS TO THE DIY HALLOWEEN WREATH: You will need your hot glue gun, glue sticks and the Silicone Craft Sheet. I also used the Silicone Craft Sheet to put under the hot glue gun to protect my surface and to put under the items as I started gluing. If your an avid crafter you NEED one of these Silicone Craft Sheets! I have used mine for so many things. Heat up your Glue Gun.  For the next part you'll want to work fast. Put hot glue on the basket edge randomly.

RRH5

I started with the Orange flowers first. Place a dot of glue on the back of the flower. Then place the flower onto the hot glue on the DIY Halloween Wreath.

Rubber Redneck Quick Tip - After you attach a flower flip the basket over and add some glue over the back where the flower was placed to secure it more in place.

You'll want to repeat the steps with the other two Orange flowers. Make sure to place them evenly spaced out. Don’t worry about the strings of hot glue that look like spiderwebs. They kind of add to the theme! If you don't like them they are easy to remove when your all done. Once done with the orange flowers then place the eyeball one's where you would like them. After that then I just filled in the rest of the black flowers, leaves, and twigs. Just remember as you go to make sure you are not getting one area to heavy. Unfortunately I apparently forgot to get a picture of flowers in progress so you'll have to use your imagination. lol

ADD A FOCAL  POINT TO YOUR DIY HALLOWEEN WREATH: Your wreath rocks but it's good to add a focal point to it just like when your creating cards. ;) I found these Glitter Pumpkin Picks at the Dollar Tree I thought they were pretty cute. You have two options for attaching them.

  1. Cut the stem off and glue to the wreath.
  2. Leave as is and slide into the door hanger and wreath. I picked this option (haha get it pick - pumpkin pick, yep not enough sleep).

The I worked the mini lights into the web and secured the lights with the Stampin' Up! Craft Wire.

Hubby made me add the spider. Bleh I hate spiders! lol I will not tell him but he was right it finished it out. haha
