Memories & More: Project 40

Project 40 Blog Banner

Hey Peeps!

Super excited to share with you all my plans for documenting this years journey! Hubby and I started doing this in 2015 and it's turned into something really fun for us to do each year to document our life! Since we've started this project it has really expanded for us in a lot of ways. First we pick an idea for a theme for us to focus on. I have our themes listed below.

2015 - Adventures
2016 - New
2017 - Life's a Party
2018 - Project 40 I got this!

Why do we choose a theme? For us it helps us focus and tell a story about our year in our words. For example last year's theme was Life's A Party, we picked that because we knew how many big celebrations we would be doing last year and if fit so well.....what we didn't know is how funny it would be because we of course had new clue what we would go through with my dad. So for us it was pretty hilarious because life sure was not a party! lol

So how did we come up with this year's theme? I turned 40 in December. December was a pretty bad month for us and we also spent most of it sick, what a way to celebrate a big milestone right? Hubby felt really bad my party had to be cancelled as he wanted to do something special for me to celebrate me. I kept telling him it's ok you can't control what happens in life but he was pretty upset. So the idea was born to create like a 40 Bucket List for us to do this year to celebrate turning 40....the idea Project 40 I got this was born! lol We thought it would be fun to pick 40 things to do....do you know how hard it is come up with 40 things that won't break the bank. At least we had fun doing it and didn't kill each other! LOL We had a blast decorating our album cover last year so hubby defiantly wanted us to do that again this year are you ready for it?

2018 Album

SWEET!!! Right??!! It turned out way better than I had hoped it would! I used our Black Faux Leather 12" x 12" Album item #144202. We decorated the cover using the Silhouette, Silver and White Vinyl. It's way cooler in person!

My Plans:

  • Document daily as we've done in the past we prefer it.
  • Stick with using the pocket photo pages. I like the look and feel of it when things are done.
  • Use 12 x 12 size so I can still incorporate my 12 x 12 traditional scrapbook pages into it.
  • Use a planner for documenting our day's notes. I tried this last year and I liked having another project to decorate. However I only got the first 3 month's done it's a little time consuming but I liked how I was able to use product up and it really helped my creativity process way more than I thought it would kinda like testing ideas out first. lol I'll be sharing more of this down the road.
  • I am not doing a box this year to hold my cards until I am done. I know many of you loved me sharing this but this year I want to focus on getting caught up!

My Goals:

  • To get the past albums DONE this year. I am working on ideas to help others as well if your in the same boat as me! haha
  • Finish this year's album on time! I am setting specific time aside for me each week to just have fun with this project.

My Cover Page for the start of the Album used 3 of the Sale-A-Bration items! Today is the last day to earn those FREEBIES!!!!

Cover Page SAB

You may have seen this project already I used it for The Stamp Review Crew Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop HERE. Finally sharing the details today! My title card in the top left corner. I printed out the phrases onto Whisper White card stock. I wanted to bring in more color to the white so I underlined each phrase using the Berry Burst Stampin' Write Marker. To create this I used the following Sale-A- Bration Items.

Sweet Soiree Memories & More Card Pack

Sweet Soiree Memoreis & More Card Pack are the cards I used for the pockets. I color coordinated with them by using our various products that match. I decorated the cards using using the Myths & Magic and Tutti-frutti Washi Tape, Silver Metallic Thread, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Sweet Soiree Embellishment Kit, and 1/2 Berry Burst Finely Woven Ribbon. I also cut and die cut some of the Sweet Soriee Memories & More Card Pack to decorate the other cards. To die cut the cards I used the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine with the Stitched Shape Framelits.

Epic Celebrations

I used the dots stamp to stamp on my top left corner card on my layout and to create a banner on one of the bottom cards. I inked the stamp in Old Olive and used Old Olive card stock.

Left Side

Close up of the left side of my cover page to add the glitter amazing I used the following.

Celebrate You Thinlits

I used the Celebrate You Thinlits to die cut out the word "amazing" in Silver Glimmer Paper and added it to my bottom left card. I loved adding a word to the pre-printed card to create a title.

Dare to Dream Hostess Set

To decorate the big heart card I used Hostess Set Dare to Dream. This is one of my favorite hostess sets this year!! To get this set have an online catalog party, catalog party, place a minimum hostess party order to qualify for it or join my team (I welcome all stampers from hobby to career minded demos)! I inked the adventure phrase in Versa Mark and Old Olive. Stamped onto a piece of Whisper White card stock and embossed it with the Clear Embossing Powder. To add "the" and "Awaits" I inked those stamps in Versa Mark and Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and stamped onto the card. I then embossed using the Clear Embossing Powder.

This year Stampin' Up! has 2 different levels to earn FREEBIES!!  For every $50 or $100 before tax and shipping you can earn one of the AWESOME products from the Sale-a-bration Catalog from Jan. 4- March 31, 2018!! SWEET!!! There are so many awesome items to choose from too! If your like me and have a heck of a time choosing what to get for your free item and want it all then sign up to become a demonstrator! That's what I did ;)

For my project I actually used 3 different Sale-a-Bration Products to create my master piece ;)

Cover Page SAB

This is the cover page for our Daily Memories Album for 2018! Our theme this year is to celebrate me turning 40, so it's focused on 40 (this years theme was all my hubbies idea too). Every year we do a Daily Memories Album....I still am in the middle of 2015 though as far as actually getting the stuff into an albums. I know very bad of us! LOL But we do all year document and take pictures so at least we got that part done. So hubby and I came up with a 40 Bucket List for us to do this year....do you know how hard it is to come up with 40 things that you can actually do/afford too? That was an adventure in it's self! LOL

I used the Sweet Soiree Memories & More card pack, Epic Celebrations Stamp Stamp Set, Celebrate You Thinlits Dies and Dare to Dream Hostess Set to create my layout. I also did some embossing on the cards here and their. I think it is the best cover page I have ever created yet! It uses my two favorite colors green and dark berry purple.

I will have more details about this project on Friday so you'll want to be sure to stop back to find out how I created the project and hear about the humor side of it!

Now you'll want to head on over to Charlet's BLOG where I know you will love her project!!

Scrapbook Saddle Up Friday; Project Life 2017 Plan

Life's a Party

Happy Friday Peeps!

Lot's to share today with ya! Did you see the title and think hmmm Holly it's April already. I know I usually share what I am doing in January but it's never to late to talk Project Life Plan's! For me it's an evolving system with change ;) It's been hard to find time for just me this year, thus why this post is so late in the year. I came up with a really fun idea that I am having a blast with!! I will be sharing that idea very soon.

Let's discuss plans:

We definitely are continuing the daily journal style. This is where we are documenting each day. It's been fun to look back on the past years just to see what our day to day life is like, the weather, and etc. At the beginning of the year dh and I sat down and kicked around idea's for a theme this year. We had so much fun with last year's theme we wanted to do that again and see how it went. Last year's theme was New you can view that blog post HERE. January we knew lots of big things were happening this year, lots of things that we would be celebrating.....little did we know how many things we would be celebrating and how crazy it would really be. lol So we decided the theme this year would be............

IMG_0978

AWESOME SAUCE! This truly is fitting our life this year! This year I decided to go with the Black Faux Leather 12 x 12 Album item #135292. I used the Silhouette to decorate the cover with our phrase for this year! How cool is that and so easy to do!!

SAB Card Tin

Some of you have already seen this fun tin. I shared this in the Stamp Review Crew Hop HERE, today I am sharing the details. This is the Card Tin from Sale-A-Bration. I decorated it to fit our theme "Life's A Party". This tin will hold the completed cards for this year's project life at the end of the year I will slide them into the album. Why don't I put them in the album right away? So many of you have emailed me telling me you want to see what I come up with to hold my cards for the year and how fun it is. So I plan on keep doing this till I run out of ideas. lol I used the Balloon Adventures Photopolymer Bundle item #144708 to decorate my tin.

Balloon Adventures

This is one of my favorite bundles and I am so sad to see this retire! You'll want to get it before it's gone!

IMG_0732

Close up of the front of the tin. Looks like a party is going on!

Rubber Redneck Quick Shots:
Front

  • I wrapped some Emerald Envy 1/8 Taffeta Ribbon around the tin. I love this stuff!
  • Cut pieces of Pacific Point and Whisper White card stock.
  • I inked the stamp from Balloon Adventures in Emerald Envy Ink and stamped towards the top of the Whisper White card stock. I inked the confetti image from the Balloon Adventures Stamp Set in Crushed Curry and stamped across the bottom of the Whisper White card stock.
  • On the bottom of the Whisper White card stock I added a piece of Party Animal Designer Washi Tape, a piece of Party Animal Designer Series Paper and some Gold Sequin Trim.
  • Using the Big Shot and Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits I die cut out a piece of Tangerine Tango and Gold Glimmer Paper to create my balloon.
  • I added some Metallic Enamel Shapes to the Whisper White card stock and some Brights Enamel Shapes to the Whisper White card stock and tin.
  • Once done decorating the layer of card stock I attached it to the tin with Stampin' Dimensionals.

IMG_0722

These are the dividers. They are labeled Jan. -Dec.

  • Create more dividers out of the white chipboard that comes in the 12 x 12 Designer Paper Packs. I just traced each card that I needed onto the chipboard and cut them out.
  • Each card then was decorated with the Party Animal Designer Series Paper and Party Animal Designer Washi Tape. I altered the patterns and layouts for each card.
  • I used the Thoughtful Banners Photopolymer Stamp Set and  Project Life Date It Photopolymer Stamp Set to label the month's. First I took the stamp from Thoughtful Banner Stamp Set; inked in Pacific Point and stamped 12 hex banners onto Whisper White card stock. Next I inked each month in Emerald Envy and stamped inside each hex banner. I then used the Classic Label Punch to punch out each image. I attached them to the divider card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • To finish the card I added Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the months.

IMG_0739

I wanted the top to be pretty too!

  • Cut a piece of Tangerine Tango card stock and stamp the confetti image onto it in Tangerine Tango.
  • Add different patterns of the Party Animal Designer Series Paper in the center.
  • Zip a piece of Emerald Envy card stock through the Big Shot with the Stitched Shape Framelits to die cut it out. Place some Gold Metallic Thread onto the back of the die cut.
  • Ink the banner from Balloon Adventures in Pacific Point and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White card stock. Ink the Party on in Emerald Envy and stamp inside the banner. Cut out the banner and attach to the die cut. Finish by adding some Metallic Enamel Shapes.

IMG_0741

I am so excited to use this tin this year!! It just screams party time! So that's the plan this year for our project life daily journal. If you made it to the end and read it all good job! lol

Happy Friday Peeps!!!

I am for one VERY glad Friday is here! This week has been one CRAZY BUSY week! lol Today I am sharing my Project Life Daily Journal for 2016 better late than never right? If you want to see all of what I shared so far on this you can click on the categories daily journal on the left side of my blog and it will pull up all the post's I've done so far on this. IMG_5490

This is the cover page for our 2016 Album. We decided to do the Daily Journal again dh thought it was cool to document each day even if it's a work day. hahaha I honestly think I've created a monster I never thought he would be this into it. lol I wanted to focus on one word this year and we decided to pick NEW. So this year's album focus on that. I was inspired by Ali Edwards One Little Word.

Definition of New: not existing before; made, introduced, or discovered recently or now for the first time.

Originally we just were going to do 1 new thing but instead decided to make it into a year of New things. Our NEW will focus on: trying new things, new adventures, new arrivals, new items and etc. Our cover page focused on the NEW Year and our NEW goals as a family. There are so many ways to look at the word New.

Today's layout I am using the retired Memories in the Making Project Life from last year's Occasion's Catalog. Right now this kit is in the Clearance Rack and available to purchase at a major discount. SCORE it's an awesome kit!! It

I have a bit of story with this layout. :)

In 2014 our extended family was not able to celebrate Christmas in December. We always celebrate the holidays with my mom's brother and his family. With our family a lot of the times it's very hard to do the holidays around the holidays because we have an EMT, Teachers, Cop, Store Manager and you get the picture. lol We were not able to be together as a family until Feb. 2015 to celebrate our Christmas. A lot of the time I host Christmas; however since it was going to be towards the end of February I really didn't want my Christmas Tree up that long or go through the hassle of taking it down and putting it back up. I am good doing it once a year! lol So we decided since this was really nontraditional holiday instead to go ice fishing as a family.

Some of us not a problem however my husband at the time hated to fish, my mom had not been on the ice since a little girl she doesn't like it all, my dad with his health problems can't be around wood stoves or gas heaters anymore and my aunt is not a very big fan of it. Not everyone has fish houses either. lol I know your thinking why do this then? Because we have 2 little boys that LOVE to ice fish and it was more about making the day for them since it was not your normal Christmas. lol After many calls back before thinking we should not do it, us kids  and mainly my one cousin finally said lets just do it we'll make it work and it will be an adventure!! Little did I know.....

IMG_8618

Our day started off with -40 below and -60 below wind chill. WOW looks like we picked the literally the coldest day of the year to go ice fishing. lol Hubby and my day started off giving our stinky dog a bath. My brother is allergic to him so he gets a bath every time my brother comes home. lol We got to the lake, drove over an ice heave and my brother lost the running board off his truck that should have been a sign. lol We set up our portable fish houses as fast as we could because man was it cold!!!!

IMG_8621

My parents arrived, we got them into the fish houses and set up. Then set up everyone else. While fishing I got a MONSTER hit....I was worried about breaking my brother's fancy rod so had him come help me. Back and forth really fighting with this fish OH MY I thought I was gonna have a MONSTER....turns out some how my uncle and I got our fishing lines tangled with each other. 50 feet our houses where, and we bother were in different fish house. lol WOW 25 min fighting with each others line. I saved the fishing line that broke and attached to the picture in the bottom right corner. Man it's so cold in those portables!!

IMG_8629

We grilled on the lake, my cousin and I kept dropping the food on the ground because it was so cold the tongs wouldn't close tight on stuff lol, beverages froze except for my wine hahah, one kid stepped in a hole and didn't tell anyone he was soaked for hours, the kids dumped my aunts bag down a hole, lost some fishing tackle, people got hooked bad, had a fishing pole tangled in the ceiling of an ice house, ran out of firewood on the coldest day of the year so don't recommend that, lol Where was my one cousin in all of this at my uncle and aunts place were it was toasty and warm sick in bed...so she says. lol We did catch fish but they froze on us. ROFL 9:30 pm we called it quits ripped it all down in 10 min. Get all done my uncle says did anyone use the nice fish house over there the heats been on for 8 hours while some of us were freezing in the portables. ROFL!! What an adventure we had, everyone had fun and most important of all we spent time together as a family and made an awesome story!

So peeps that was our day on Feb. 21, 2015.

I used this set creating a wedding card. Or you could use it for graduation or sending someone a congrats on a promotion, something finished or etc. This is a simple and quick card but also has a bit of a dressed up look.

Rubber Redneck Quick Shots:

  • Take the stamp from Timeless Textures Stamp Set; ink it in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Stamp off onto scratch paper then stamp onto the Whisper White card stock creating a faint look. Ink the other stamp in Marina Mist and stamp onto the Whisper White card stock.
  • Add some Silver Metallic Thread and a Metallic Foil Doily.
  • Take the banner stamp from You're So Lovely Stamp Set; ink it in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White card stock. Zip through the Big Shot with the Large Number Framelits die cutting it out. Ink the congrats in Marina Mist and stamp onto the banner.

Stamp: You're So Lovely, Timeless Textures
Ink: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, Marina Mist
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black
Acc.: Big Shot, Large Number Framelits, Silver Metallic Thread, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Iced Rhinestones, Metallic Foil Doilies

Here is a little note card I made way back in January and sent out to all my customers that qualified to receive the Occasions Catalog. Another reason why you don't want to select no contact then you don't receive your goodies from me that your order may qualify for! This set works great for making quick note cards! I took this idea and turned it into a pocket card for my project life. Here is what that one looks like.

I just changed out the stamped colors and washi tape so it would match with my project life cover page.

Timeless Textures + Daily Journal Project Life

I love project life, it is so easy for documenting your life. It can be simple and fast or you can step it up. It is important to document you life and everyday moments. I recently had a friend try project life and she loved it but someone told her that just layouts of her and her pet were boring. This broke my heart she is a wonderful person. You don't need to be married or have children to do project life. Your life, regardless if you are married or have kids, is IMPORTANT. What goes on in your life does matter!!! I personally love to scrapbook for the memories; we've lost family members suddenly so for me it helps to have those moments documented so you can go back and think of the good times, smile, laugh and remember that loved one or pet.

This is the Life Bundle

I am sharing another part of my daily project life journal. If you want to see all of what I shared so far on this you can click on the categories daily journal on the left side of my blog and it will pull up all the post's I've done so far on this. Today I am sharing 2 layout with you all Feb. 23-26, 2015. I used the Project Life This is the Life Bundle item #140297 on page (52) in the main catalog. Right now by purchasing it as a bundle you can save 15% this will be retiring in a few days! This bundle helps you keep track of the amazing everyday events in your life. I also paired it with some of my other favorite project stamp sets and the Timeless Textures Stamp Set (W) item #140514 (C) item #140517 from the Occasions Catalog.

Timless Textures

My second layout uses the Timeless Textures Stamp Set again. Love this set it's really perfect for a lot of things! This layout is Feb. 26, 2015. It was a funny day it was the day the dress broke the internet so I HAD to document that just for the historic part of it. lol I came across a picture on Pinterest a few days later that cracked us both up and was very fitting for this moment and us. Were big fans of the Avengers and Captain America movies.

Here is another glimpse into our life! I am documenting March 1, 2015. Hubby and I had to clean a job in the morning then afterwards went to the local Chinese place for lunch. Then home to work some more then later watched the season finale of Downtown Abby (one of my favorite shows) and I am heart broken its done!!!

Rubber Redneck Quick Shots:

  • Some of the words in the Balloon Celebration Stamp Set worked perfect for this layout. Top right corner of the card I stamped "let us celebrate" in Pacific Point above moments on the card from (Project Life Moments Like These Card Collection). I also stamped the stars in Crushed Curry onto the card too. I punched out a piece of Brights Designer Series Paper with the Sweetheart Punch. I used the Medium Star Punch to punch out a piece of Neutrals Designer Series Paper.
  • Bottom left corner card stamped the stars in Sahara Sand onto the card. Punched out a piece of It's My Party Designer Series Paper (Crushed Curry Pattern) with the Medium Star Punch. Used the Sweetheart Punch to punch out a piece of Brights Designer Series Paper (Pacific Point Pattern). I stamped the saying from Balloon Celebrations "come let us sit together and drink" in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I cut off the and drink then punched out each end using the Banner Punch. I punched a staple at the top of the card.
  • Center card I added some Silver Metallic Thread, a piece of It's My Party Designer Series Paper and another star. I also stamped the stars from Balloon Celebration in Sahara Sand onto the card. Then stapled our fortunes to the card.
  • The last card I stamped "and eat cookies" in Crushed Curry onto Whisper White card stock. Punched one end out with the Banner Punch creating a banner. Added the Silver Metallic Thread, Star (It's My Party Designer Series Paper), and the little heart from Project Life Moments Like These Accessory Pack.
  • I placed Rhinestone Basic Jewels randomly all over the cards to finish.

Now you'll want to head on over to Heidi's Blog where I know you will love her project!!
