Family Gifts: Christmas Countdown Day 1

Back with the second half of this mornings post. I had to split it up into 2 posts today since it's a lot to share!

Day 1 Gift:

Block Calendars & Kid's Advent Countdown Calendar. The Block Calendars were handmade by us. I got this idea off of pinterest and I think the original maker is Melissa Stout to see her version visit her blog. Last year I shared some of the Stampin' Up! ones I created. I have so much craft stuff that my goal has been to try to use up all my none SU stuff and scraps! This gift worked perfect for that goal!

Calendar Block 1

This was made using the product from the 2016 Holiday Catalog and you can find the details on this blog post HERE. You can still purchase the Holly Berry Builder Punch, Santa's Sleigh, Santa's Sleigh Thinlits, and Large Numbers Framelits.

Calendar Block 2

This used some of my misc DSP Christmas Paper I had left over. I really liked the reindeer cut out in the Silver Glimmer Paper.

IMG_9398

This one was for the kido's. I stumbled across this Santa on-line on pinterest and as soon as I saw it I wanted to do this.

If you would like to make your own just click on the picture below and save to your computer and print it off.

Santa-faceAdventCalendar

I of course really wanted my projects to include my biggest passion which is of course my stamping :) so I created this adorable bags to slip the Santa's into.

Gift Bag 1

IMG_9389

Details on how to make these bags by recycling paper bags can be found HERE.

IMG_9414

To package the Santa Countdown all up I used tissue paper to create a bag and decorated.

1 Card

IMG_9385

We made cards to put in each gift too.

This was the tag we created for the outside of the package.

This past week didn't go as planned...well lets face it this past year has not gone as planned. lol Started the week off on new meds and they are making me not sleep so having a really hard time focusing on anything. Which no sleep makes my Rheumatoid Arthritis flare up bad. Hubby got sick and he's been a bigger baby than I normally am when I am sick (I felt like we had 6 kids this week lol poor guy). Plus so much more unplanned things that it made my normal crazy week, super crazy. lol Where am I going with this ramble well you've probably already seen this project all over the internet, but I haven't shared mine yet and I didn't want to pull out of the hop. I hate not making my commitments. So I decided to go for it + it saved my bacon! lol

Wood Words Bundle.

Last April I was able to attend Onstage in Minneapolis and this is one of the make and take projects we made. I had a blast at Onstage met up with old friends and made quite a few wonderful new friends! Love that about Stampin' Up!.

Rubber Redneck Box of Sunshine

Today's share is my box of sunshine. This is another gift we created for our family members and is part of the "Year Gift" we made. If you would like to see more info about this awesome project we created and what I've shared so far click on the little tag on the left side of my blog labeled Year of Gifts or visit HERE. I still plan on sharing everything I made some items used to create these gifts maybe retired. Ironic part when we created this little did we know hubby's grandpa would have a stroke so it was a much needed gift that week to cheer everyone up. For dh and I we were happy that it helped; that was gift enough for us!

Sunshine Sayings

This card I shared for the Stamp Review Crew Hop awhile ago but this was only part of the gift. :)

Rubber Redneck Quick Shots:

  • Create your card base from the Whisper White Thick card stock.
  • Zip a piece of Crushed Curry card stock through the Big Shot with the Sunburst Thinlit Die.
  • Ink the stamp from Sunburst Sayings Stamp Set (unfortunately this stamp set retired before I shared this project) however their is an image in the Inspired Events Stamp Set that you could used to make the dots, or use the Crushed Curry Marker and ruler to make your own dots.
  • Zip a piece of vellum through the Big Shot with the Stiched Shapes Framelits.
  • Ink the stamp from Sunshine Sayings Stamp Set in Versa Mark then Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and stamp onto the Vellum Circle. Pour Clear Embossing Powder over the image and heat set with the heat too.
  • Die cut out a piece of Basic Black card stock by zipping it through the Big Shot with the Sunshine Wishes Thinlit.
  • Finish off the card by added Silver Metallic Thread and Metallic Sequins.

Sunshine Sayings 2

I didn't decorate every package but some of them I did and this was the outside of the box. I used shirt boxes and those worked slick! It happened to be a dreary day when I was creating these so it sure made the day better!

To decorate:

  • I cut some gift packing ribbon and curled with scissors.
  • Die cut out a piece of Crushed Curry card stock using the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits.
  • I die cut out sunshine again in Basic Black card stock using the Big Shot and Sunshine Wishes Thinlits.
  • Finished with a Rhinestone.

Box of Sunshine

When I got the year gift idea I knew I wanted to do a box of sunshine in it. I've done these in the past and they have been so much fun to create! Of course each family got some of the same gifts but also different gifts to suit that family likes. Some of the items were just by chance too. Hubby and I both busted out laughing when we found the google eye key change. The little coin purse and hand santizer was a happy accident. I was in the check out lane at one store and glanced over and there they where. lol

I added my stamping touch to it by die cutting out a piece of Crushed Curry card stock with the Sunburst Thinlit Die. Then stamping on it with the Sunburst Sayings Stamp Set. So much fun!!

Did you miss out on this die when it retired this past may? I have good news friends!! Right now the Sunburst Thinlit Die is in the clearance rack at a huge discount!! Awesome Sauce!! Get it before it's gone!! Clearance rack is only while supplies last!

Scrapbook Saddle Up Friday; Project Life 2017 Plan

Life's a Party

Happy Friday Peeps!

Lot's to share today with ya! Did you see the title and think hmmm Holly it's April already. I know I usually share what I am doing in January but it's never to late to talk Project Life Plan's! For me it's an evolving system with change ;) It's been hard to find time for just me this year, thus why this post is so late in the year. I came up with a really fun idea that I am having a blast with!! I will be sharing that idea very soon.

Let's discuss plans:

We definitely are continuing the daily journal style. This is where we are documenting each day. It's been fun to look back on the past years just to see what our day to day life is like, the weather, and etc. At the beginning of the year dh and I sat down and kicked around idea's for a theme this year. We had so much fun with last year's theme we wanted to do that again and see how it went. Last year's theme was New you can view that blog post HERE. January we knew lots of big things were happening this year, lots of things that we would be celebrating.....little did we know how many things we would be celebrating and how crazy it would really be. lol So we decided the theme this year would be............

IMG_0978

AWESOME SAUCE! This truly is fitting our life this year! This year I decided to go with the Black Faux Leather 12 x 12 Album item #135292. I used the Silhouette to decorate the cover with our phrase for this year! How cool is that and so easy to do!!

SAB Card Tin

Some of you have already seen this fun tin. I shared this in the Stamp Review Crew Hop HERE, today I am sharing the details. This is the Card Tin from Sale-A-Bration. I decorated it to fit our theme "Life's A Party". This tin will hold the completed cards for this year's project life at the end of the year I will slide them into the album. Why don't I put them in the album right away? So many of you have emailed me telling me you want to see what I come up with to hold my cards for the year and how fun it is. So I plan on keep doing this till I run out of ideas. lol I used the Balloon Adventures Photopolymer Bundle item #144708 to decorate my tin.

Balloon Adventures

This is one of my favorite bundles and I am so sad to see this retire! You'll want to get it before it's gone!

IMG_0732

Close up of the front of the tin. Looks like a party is going on!

Rubber Redneck Quick Shots:
Front

  • I wrapped some Emerald Envy 1/8 Taffeta Ribbon around the tin. I love this stuff!
  • Cut pieces of Pacific Point and Whisper White card stock.
  • I inked the stamp from Balloon Adventures in Emerald Envy Ink and stamped towards the top of the Whisper White card stock. I inked the confetti image from the Balloon Adventures Stamp Set in Crushed Curry and stamped across the bottom of the Whisper White card stock.
  • On the bottom of the Whisper White card stock I added a piece of Party Animal Designer Washi Tape, a piece of Party Animal Designer Series Paper and some Gold Sequin Trim.
  • Using the Big Shot and Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits I die cut out a piece of Tangerine Tango and Gold Glimmer Paper to create my balloon.
  • I added some Metallic Enamel Shapes to the Whisper White card stock and some Brights Enamel Shapes to the Whisper White card stock and tin.
  • Once done decorating the layer of card stock I attached it to the tin with Stampin' Dimensionals.

IMG_0722

These are the dividers. They are labeled Jan. -Dec.

  • Create more dividers out of the white chipboard that comes in the 12 x 12 Designer Paper Packs. I just traced each card that I needed onto the chipboard and cut them out.
  • Each card then was decorated with the Party Animal Designer Series Paper and Party Animal Designer Washi Tape. I altered the patterns and layouts for each card.
  • I used the Thoughtful Banners Photopolymer Stamp Set and  Project Life Date It Photopolymer Stamp Set to label the month's. First I took the stamp from Thoughtful Banner Stamp Set; inked in Pacific Point and stamped 12 hex banners onto Whisper White card stock. Next I inked each month in Emerald Envy and stamped inside each hex banner. I then used the Classic Label Punch to punch out each image. I attached them to the divider card with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • To finish the card I added Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the months.

IMG_0739

I wanted the top to be pretty too!

  • Cut a piece of Tangerine Tango card stock and stamp the confetti image onto it in Tangerine Tango.
  • Add different patterns of the Party Animal Designer Series Paper in the center.
  • Zip a piece of Emerald Envy card stock through the Big Shot with the Stitched Shape Framelits to die cut it out. Place some Gold Metallic Thread onto the back of the die cut.
  • Ink the banner from Balloon Adventures in Pacific Point and stamp onto a piece of Whisper White card stock. Ink the Party on in Emerald Envy and stamp inside the banner. Cut out the banner and attach to the die cut. Finish by adding some Metallic Enamel Shapes.

IMG_0741

I am so excited to use this tin this year!! It just screams party time! So that's the plan this year for our project life daily journal. If you made it to the end and read it all good job! lol

Family Gifts; Family Jar

Happy Saturday Peeps!

Yes we are alive and well I've just been incredible busy and have not had time to create or post to my blog. I am in the process of several major events here that I am making decorations for, lots of regular work, work and work, tax time, plus lots of different things going on. There is not enough hours in the day! We did have my mom's retirement party it was a success and I will be sharing photos in a couple of weeks here. I am sorry I worried some of you but we are okay and I will not be posting regular till I get stuff done and caught up.

Customer Updates:

I did mail out the catalogs weeks ago so if you didn't receive one please let me know and I will check my list. Everyone who placed orders in Dec and Jan all of your thank you goodies were mailed out too!

Family Jar

This is another gift we created for our family members and is part of the "Year Gift" we made! If you would like to see more info about this awesome project we created and what I've shared so far click on the little tag on the left side of my blog labeled Year of Gifts or visit HERE. It is a family jar. I saw this idea last year on pinterest and thought how cool I gotta make this! The idea is all year long record the awesome things that happened and then on new year's eve read through everything. How cool right? Another demo/friend did this with her family and it's become a family tradition for them. This uses the Layering Love Stamp Set (W) item #141962 (C) item #141965 which I thought was fitting for this idea!

IMG_9955

Theses were such a blast to make! We made a total of 4 of them. I should have made one for us but didn't even think about it. lol Super easy to create too!

Supplies Needed to create Family Jar
Stamp: Layering Love
Ink: Early Espresso
Paper: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Copy Paper
Acc.: 1 3/8 Circle Punch, Very Vanilla 1/2 Lace Trim, Gold Binder Clips, Pearls, Jar, Paint, Silhouette

Rubber Redneck Quick Shots:

  • Paint the jar lid in your color choice and let dry for several days.
  • Using the Silhouette cut out the vinyl in black and attach to the front of the jar. Sorry I forgot to measure the jar. lol I got them at Target in the $1 spot last spring.
  • Create a pouch to hold slips of copy paper out of the Early Espresso card stock. They don't need to be that big but I really wanted the saying on the pocket. Punch one end of the Early Espresso card stock using the 1 3/8 Circle Punch. This will make it easier to grab the slips of paper.
  • Ink the stamp from Layering Love Stamp Set in Early Espresso and stamp onto the Very Vanilla card stock. Glue to the front of the pocket and added some Pearl Basic Jewels to finish it.
  • At the top I clipped a Gold Binder Clip to the pocket then thread some Very Vanilla 1/2 Lace Trim through the binder clip and tied it around the top of the jar.
  • Then I typed up a note to add with the jar to let each family know how the jar works.

IMG_9960

Here is all four of them. Again I either did people's favorite colors or the color that would best in there home since I didn't know who would actually leave them sitting out. Pretty awesome I think!

Happy New Year + Big Surprise

Happy New Year Peeps!

I know I've been missing all week again and I can FINALLY share why this year I've missed so much time on here besides being super sick and busy with family stuff. It has been super hard to keep this project top secret and not show anything!! I should seriously get a medal for that :) This past two day's we did our family Christmas with my side!! I REALLY couldn't wait for Christmas to get here this year!!!! I was probably more excited than any kid on the planet!!!! haha

So are you ready??? This year I decided to do something pretty FUN and completely CRAZY for our siblings and my one cousin who is like a sister to me and for there families. I made an entire year of gifts celebrating the major holiday's and weird holidays as there Christmas gifts for this year and next year. Yes you did read that right. lol A whole year of gifts!! Some gifts were made and some where purchased. What dose an entire year of gifts look like for one family?

IMG_3028

Awesome right? I thought it was awesome!! But of course I had to take it one more step farther and be truly INSANE.... for the month of December I did a countdown to Christmas but instead of just a 12 day countdown I did a 25 day countdown....THUD.

IMG_0616

This is what 25 day's of Christmas countdown looks like. Hehehe

We did this for 4 families. Yes 4 families for a total of 363 presents for this coming year!!! 100 of those presents were just the Christmas Countdown for this coming December.

What do you put all these presents in to give? Why 2- 50 gallon totes for each family and some still didn't fit. haha

IMG_0553

Of course how do you decorate a 50 gallon tote? Ribbon and lots of ribbon!

How in the world did I get this idea?

Last year in December while I was wrapping the date night kits I made for the family I had the news on and they were talking about some weird holiday like it was doughnut day or something and I thought huh and what?? So off to google I went and low and behold I found a web-sight called Holiday Insights with the major holiday and weird holidays and the idea was born. I thought it would be so fun to teach the kids about it since I obviously knew nothing about it. lol I told my husband what I wanted to do and he thought it would be so cool. So it started out for the kids but then I was having so much fun with it and my cousin is a teacher I thought you know she probably would really like this and so would our siblings. I really started thinking about how hard everyone works and what a great gift this would be as a family gift instead. I love creating gifts for people because for me they are truly from the heart and we love our family so much. I just really wanted to do something special for them this year to show them how much we love them! Family is one of the most important things to me and with everyday life sometimes we forget to have fun, take our families for granted and truly enjoy those little moments. Of course when I told hubby this he thought I was off my rocker yet again :) I knew I would have to really work on it all year to have it done in time.......HA yeah right even working on it all year was not enough time. Every spare minuet I had was working on this project.

This also was part why I didn't share my project life album this past year because so much time was spent on this project I didn't want to give things away :) It defiantly fit our thing of trying something new last year. lol I am a supper organized control freak and I'll be honest no amount of being prepared to do this gift in this magnitude, you still will not be prepared enough. lol

So many things happened with this gift and I will share as they days gifts are opened too because it was really funny all the stuff that happened. The biggest thing I didn't fully think about was what size of gift this would be when we were done and how we would wrap stuff. lol We spent all year saving boxes then dh's cat got sick and decided to use the room I was storing the boxes in as a litter box. Ughh a hole trailer load of boxes in September went to the dump....that really left us scrambling. We didn't really think out what the cost of packaging (totes are soo expensive) it would have been ok if I had planned for that but that was a very big unplanned expense in December to have.

Some other things I didn't think about where the food restrictions some have, having 2 little ones that a lot of things they can't have or do yet (that was a big challenge to try to find things that would work for them). lol Some people told me to just do whatever for it but I didn't want it to be a gift of things people didn't like or would get upset over. I truly care if it's something someone will like and to me that is knowing a person better and making these gifts more personal.

Not all the gifts were the same for every family, each of the families varied in size, children age's, and some have no children. My brother got engaged in October so that was a VERY unplanned thing and we had to scramble to figure out stuff to included Hailey. lol Because in October where do you find things for St. Patty's Day for example it was a riot. I was happy to do it though because it is awesome she is joining our family!!

To start of the gift we created message boards for each family with pictures and a calendar of when to open there gifts.

IMG_0539

This is my brother and soon to be wife's message board. We put the picture of when he proposed, engagement picture and a picture of all 4 of us.

IMG_0537

This one is of my cousin and here family.

IMG_0421

This one is of my hubby's baby brother and wife.

IMG_0424

This one is of my hubby's other brother and family.

They turned out so cool!! We used the Silhouette to create the family thing across the top.

All the reactions we got were so funny and some where not at all what we expected. I always prank someone at Christmas time on my side and my cousin panicked. Her response was OMG what did we do this year, she was so worried but when we set the tote down in front of my brother she felt relief. ROFL and by the way I don't think I will ever have to prank you two again mission accomplished. haha They were all pretty shocked and I don't think I will EVER be able to top this gift......but I always find a way I just set the bar VERY high.

So now can you see why I was sooo excited for Christmas this year!! We wrapped gifts right up before we had to leave for our family gathering. It was quite the adventure and we made some awesome memories for us in 2016.

Happy New Year!!
