Memories & More: Project 40

Project 40 Blog Banner

Hey Peeps!

Super excited to share with you all my plans for documenting this years journey! Hubby and I started doing this in 2015 and it's turned into something really fun for us to do each year to document our life! Since we've started this project it has really expanded for us in a lot of ways. First we pick an idea for a theme for us to focus on. I have our themes listed below.

2015 - Adventures
2016 - New
2017 - Life's a Party
2018 - Project 40 I got this!

Why do we choose a theme? For us it helps us focus and tell a story about our year in our words. For example last year's theme was Life's A Party, we picked that because we knew how many big celebrations we would be doing last year and if fit so well.....what we didn't know is how funny it would be because we of course had new clue what we would go through with my dad. So for us it was pretty hilarious because life sure was not a party! lol

So how did we come up with this year's theme? I turned 40 in December. December was a pretty bad month for us and we also spent most of it sick, what a way to celebrate a big milestone right? Hubby felt really bad my party had to be cancelled as he wanted to do something special for me to celebrate me. I kept telling him it's ok you can't control what happens in life but he was pretty upset. So the idea was born to create like a 40 Bucket List for us to do this year to celebrate turning 40....the idea Project 40 I got this was born! lol We thought it would be fun to pick 40 things to do....do you know how hard it is come up with 40 things that won't break the bank. At least we had fun doing it and didn't kill each other! LOL We had a blast decorating our album cover last year so hubby defiantly wanted us to do that again this year are you ready for it?

2018 Album

SWEET!!! Right??!! It turned out way better than I had hoped it would! I used our Black Faux Leather 12" x 12" Album item #144202. We decorated the cover using the Silhouette, Silver and White Vinyl. It's way cooler in person!

My Plans:

  • Document daily as we've done in the past we prefer it.
  • Stick with using the pocket photo pages. I like the look and feel of it when things are done.
  • Use 12 x 12 size so I can still incorporate my 12 x 12 traditional scrapbook pages into it.
  • Use a planner for documenting our day's notes. I tried this last year and I liked having another project to decorate. However I only got the first 3 month's done it's a little time consuming but I liked how I was able to use product up and it really helped my creativity process way more than I thought it would kinda like testing ideas out first. lol I'll be sharing more of this down the road.
  • I am not doing a box this year to hold my cards until I am done. I know many of you loved me sharing this but this year I want to focus on getting caught up!

My Goals:

  • To get the past albums DONE this year. I am working on ideas to help others as well if your in the same boat as me! haha
  • Finish this year's album on time! I am setting specific time aside for me each week to just have fun with this project.

My Cover Page for the start of the Album used 3 of the Sale-A-Bration items! Today is the last day to earn those FREEBIES!!!!

For every $50 or $100 before tax and shipping you can earn one of the AWESOME products from the Sale-a-bration Catalog from Jan. 4- March 31, 2018!!

Cover Page SAB

You may have seen this project already I used it for The Stamp Review Crew Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop HERE. Finally sharing the details today! My title card in the top left corner. I printed out the phrases onto Whisper White card stock. I wanted to bring in more color to the white so I underlined each phrase using the Berry Burst Stampin' Write Marker. To create this I used the following Sale-A- Bration Items.

Sweet Soiree Memories & More Card Pack

Sweet Soiree Memoreis & More Card Pack are the cards I used for the pockets. I color coordinated with them by using our various products that match. I decorated the cards using using the Myths & Magic and Tutti-frutti Washi Tape, Silver Metallic Thread, Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Sweet Soiree Embellishment Kit, and 1/2 Berry Burst Finely Woven Ribbon. I also cut and die cut some of the Sweet Soriee Memories & More Card Pack to decorate the other cards. To die cut the cards I used the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine with the Stitched Shape Framelits.

Epic Celebrations

I used the dots stamp to stamp on my top left corner card on my layout and to create a banner on one of the bottom cards. I inked the stamp in Old Olive and used Old Olive card stock.

Left Side

Close up of the left side of my cover page to add the glitter amazing I used the following.

Celebrate You Thinlits

I used the Celebrate You Thinlits to die cut out the word "amazing" in Silver Glimmer Paper and added it to my bottom left card. I loved adding a word to the pre-printed card to create a title.

Dare to Dream Hostess Set

To decorate the big heart card I used Hostess Set Dare to Dream. This is one of my favorite hostess sets this year!! To get this set have an online catalog party, catalog party, place a minimum hostess party order to qualify for it or join my team (I welcome all stampers from hobby to career minded demos)! I inked the adventure phrase in Versa Mark and Old Olive. Stamped onto a piece of Whisper White card stock and embossed it with the Clear Embossing Powder. To add "the" and "Awaits" I inked those stamps in Versa Mark and Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and stamped onto the card. I then embossed using the Clear Embossing Powder.

Family Gifts: Easter Bunny

Easter Family Gift

Back with another fun family gift! This is another gift we created for our family members and is part of the "Year Gift" we made. If you would like to see more info about this awesome project we created and what I've shared so far click on the little tag on the left side of my blog labeled Year of Gifts or visit HERE or visit my pinterest board  Rubber Redneck Year Gifts to see them all in one spot.

To create this gift I sued the retired Basket Bunch Bundle from last year's Occasions Catalog. I was so sad this didn't get carried over to our main catalog it was so cute and fun to create with! Remember those Mini Egg Cartons? So fun to decorate too! Inside was random different things for each family. For some of my sister in-laws I found these cute egg shaped wine toppers, change for the kids, some Easter candy, Easter theme socks.

IMG_0337

I wrapped the Mini Egg cartons with our retired Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper and Linen Thread. I die cut out the basket in Crumb Cake using the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine and the Basket Builder Framelits. I stamped the bunnies in Early Espresso on Early Espresso card stock. The second bunny was done in Sweet Sugarplum ink on Sweet Sugarplum card stock. Then I zipped the pieces through the Big Shot Die Cutting Machine with the Basket Builder Framelits. I assembled the cute little basket and add the greeting onto it. Then so I could keep track I wrote family names on the basket. Soo Cute! Then finished with a Pearl Basic Jewel.

IMG_0343

While shopping hubby found some Easter theme pezz dispensers. He grew up with them as a treat so he wanted to include those in the gift for sentimental reason. lol

IMG_0332

For our nephew I happen to find an Easter bib that was soo cute!! To decorate the inside of the package I used colored tissue and the grass filler you put in Easter Baskets. I honestly have no clue what made me think to do it but I sure thought it made it feel more Easter like! lol

Supplies Used
Stamps: Basket Bunch
Ink: Early Espresso, Sweet Sugarplum
Paper: Whisper White, Early Espresso, Sweet Sugarplum, Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party, Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper
Acc.: Big Shot, Basket Builder Framelits, Mini Egg Cartons, Linen Thread, Pearl Basic Jewels

You're Inspiring Card

You're Inspiring

Today I have a card using the You're Inspiring Stamp Set from the Occasions Catalog. I also used the Stampin' Blends to color it. Unfortunately right now the Stampin' Blends are unorderable due to the long lead time of getting them from our supplier. They won't be available until the end of May sometime :( Of course this announcement came after I made a bunch of projects. lol You'll just have ideas for when you can purchase the markers or if you have the markers then it is another idea for you!

You're Inspiring

When I saw this set in the catalog I knew it was one I needed. I loved the different greetings included with it making it more versatile! I also thought it was perfect for coloring with our Stampin' Blend Markers too! It was!!

I cased the card from the Occasions Catalog but changed it up a little.

  • Cut a piece of Pool Party card stock and a piece of Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper (Old Oliver Silver Strips Patterns) . Adhere both pieces at an angle.

Sweet Soire DSP

  • Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock. Ink the stamp from You're Inspiring Stamp Set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and stamp onto the Whisper White card stock.
  • Color in the image using Old Olive and Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blend Markers.
  • Ink the stamp from You're Inspiring Stamp Set in Daffodil Delight and stamp across the Whisper White card stock at an angle. Adhere the Whisper White card stock to the card base.

IMG_3066

  • Cut a piece of Crumb Cake card stock and stamp the greeting from You're Inspiring Stamp Set in Early Espresso onto the Crumb Cake card stock. Adhere the Crumb Cake card stock across the colored Daffodils.
  • Cut some Linen Thread, created loops and adhere to the back of the True Gentlemen Buttons. Adhere to the Crumb Cake tag.

IMG_3098

On the inside I cut a piece of Pool Party and Whisper White card stock. Ink the stamp from You're Inspiring Stamp Set in Daffodil Delight and stamp on the bottom right side. Finish by adding a piece of the Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper (Old Oliver Silver Strips Patterns) to the Whisper White card stock.

Family Gifts: St. Patricks Day

St Patty

Back with another fun family gift! This is another gift we created for our family members and is part of the "Year Gift" we made. If you would like to see more info about this awesome project we created and what I've shared so far click on the little tag on the left side of my blog labeled Year of Gifts or visit HERE or visit my pinterest board  Rubber Redneck Year Gifts to see them all in one spot.

St Patricks Day Gifts

St. Patrick's Day has come and gone but some great ideas for you for next year! Each family did get different items but a couple of things were the same for each family. Everyone received the green nail polish I decorated by punching out a circle in Whisper White card stock stamping in Emerald Envy onto the Whisper White circle, gold coins, trivia cards, and St. Patrick's Day drink recipe (found online) printed it out and stamped on it then attached to a piece of Emerald Envy card stock and laminated it, luck of the Irish message (found online), and catch a leprechaun box.

Catch a Leprechaun Box

First Up- How about a Catch a Leprechaun Box! Saw the idea on Pinterest only using a coffee can so I whipped up this baby instead ;)

Directions:

  • Cut 1 piece of Chipboard 4" x 4".
  • Cut 1 piece of Garden Green card stock 5 1/2" x 5". Score 1" around all sides. Cut on scored lines and fold to create like a lid. Stand the Lid up on end and glue the chipboard piece to the bottom inside.
  • I purchased rainbow bags for another project but they were to small so I used them for this. I glued the bag to the chipboard. Then glued a bunch of cotton balls to the chipboard and part ways onto the rainbow bag.
  • Cut a craft stick down and attached to the card stock lid and into the cotton balls. Tied a piece of red ribbon to the stick and attached to the bag.
  • I punched out some Gold Glimmer Paper using our 1" Circle Punch and then glued them randomly all over to entice that little leprechaun ;)

Pot of Gold

Pot of Gold! Who wouldn't want a pot of gold!! lol I used the Silhouette to cut out the pot. Then added some more gold glimmer coins to the front of it.

IMG_0391

I found these St. Patrick's Day Trivia on Pinterest so I printed them off and then stamped a clover on each one in Emerald Envy. The stamp is something I picked up many years ago by another company. Also in the pot of gold was green nail polish, green bracelets,  gold coins and bubbles that I found in green!

Kaitlyns Book

Harmons Book

For the families with younger kids I created coloring books for them. I found free color pages online and man is their a ton of them! Stacked the sheets together and then cut Emerald Envy card stock to create a book cover. I stamped the clover and kiss me in Emerald Envy Ink. I printed out each kid's name onto Whisper White card stock and then stamped the clovers across the top in Emerald Envy. Does that image look familiar to you old timers? Yep that was the clover wheel from way back when. Then I finished by adding gold coins to the covers. So fun and cute!

IMG_0406

I also found a free printable online for learning St. Patrick's Day Images. So I printed them out and laminated them as well for the younger kids.

IMG_0401

So when I purchased the stuff for St. Patrick's Day it was in March...my brother got engaged at the end of Oct. so we had to scramble to come up with something for the future sister in-law. What in the world do you do at the end of Oct as your not going to find anything in this small town for St. Patrick's Day! lol So off to pinterest I go (boy does that save my bacon a lot) and I saw coffee mugs when I searched so light bulb this idea was born. I wish I would have thought of this sooner to do for each family. So we made these using the Silhouette and I'm not gonna lie they turned out pretty awesome! However hubby was ready to drink when we were done. haha I also listed these in my Etsy Store to if you are interested in purchasing a set for next year!

March Family Update

IMG_4411

Hey peeps! Lot of you have been asking how things are going with my dad....Feb. 28 he had a check up with the surgeon. Everything is healing great, doctor was very happy with his progress so he doesn't have to go back to see the surgeon for 6 months! Yay!! So dad started farming and going all over. This past weekend he felt good enough my parents made a quick trip to Michigan to see his brother and wife. My dad is on the left and my uncle John is on the right. Been a rough couple of years for these two. My uncle had a heart attack and then dad had all the stuff that happened to him but I think they both look pretty good considering. Things were going good....UNTIL my dad fell at home he slipped on the ice outside and yep he broke a rib!!! UNREAL right? But at least that is all it was as there was a concrete step not to far away and so many bad things could have happened and he at least didn't land on his should either because who knows what would have happened to that! Seriously never dull around here. So back to being full time farmers. ROFL

IMG_0327

On Feb. 28 my husband and I decided to pretty much quit one of our business!! After 18 years we decided we had enough of the 15+ work hours, not being able to do things with our families and friends or go on a vacation even. We were pretty tied down and our business pretty much dictated our living of life. The #1 problem when your self-employed and don't have employees. lol Then with my Rheumatoid Arthritis progressing like it has we just decided health-wise this was the right thing to do. This is me holding our resignation letter for one of our clients. We both can't even believe the change it has made for us and how much better we both feel not so exhausted all the time! It will take some time to adjust as we both feel like were supposed to be somewhere or constantly checking the clock. lol This for us has been a goal that we've been working towards so were both very happy this goal has been accomplished! Were so excited for this new chapter of our life!

The Stamp Review Crew: Bubble Over

Stamp Review Crew blog banner

Welcome to another The Stamp Review Crew Hop!! We are a group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who will be bringing you lots of ideas for one particular stamp set twice a month!! The 1st and 3rd Monday of each month, you can hop along from one blog to the next gathering all kinds of inspiration for one Stampin' Up! stamp set. Please note the blog doesn't officially start until Monday March 19, 2018 so some of the links may not work.

If you are following the hop in order you just arrived from Kelly's BLOG where she showed you all something fabulous!

We are featuring the Bubble Over Photopolymer Stamp Set item #145868 from the 2018 Occasions Stampin' Up! Catalog. When I saw this in the catalog I totally fell in love with it and is a must have!

Bubble Over Bundle

You can purchase this as a bundle too and save 10%! Please note they don't come on magnets this is how I store my framelits :)

Bubble Over Card

I had to be different and not use the matching Bubbles & Fizz Designer Series Paper that coordinates with it from the Sale-a-bration catalog. ;) I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could do it. lol Instead I used the Myths & Magic Designer Series Paper and Picture Perfect Party Designer Series Paper.

Rubber Redneck Quick Shots:

  • I created a card base out of Dapper Denim.
  • Cut a piece of Basic Gray and Whisper White card stock. I used the stamp from Bubble Over Stamp Set to create my own paper pattern by stamping in Dapper Denim Ink (soon to retire in-color) onto the Whisper White.
  • I added the Myths & Magic Designer Series Paper in two different patterns to the card base.
  • A piece of Picture Perfect Party Designer Series Paper to work in another fun color.
  • I added a piece of 1/4 Stitched Rich Razzleberry Ribbon across the Picture Perfect Designer Series Paper.

  • I die cut out a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper using the Big Shot and the Layering Circles Framelits.
  • Stamp the bottle in Basic Gray Ink onto Whisper White card stock then zip it through the Big Shot with the Bottles & Bubbles Framelits to die cut it out.
  • Attach some Black Mini Sequin Trim and Silver Metallic Thread to the back of the bottle and attach over the Silver Glimmer Paper.
  • Die cut out a piece of Fresh Fig card stock using the Big Shot and Bottles & Bubbles Framelits. Attach to the bottle with a Stampin' Dimensional.
  • Stamp the birthday greeting in Dapper Denim Ink onto Whisper White card stock. Zip through the Big Shot with the Bottles & Bubbles Framelits die cutting it out and glue to the Fresh Fig card stock on the bottle.
  • To finish add some Glitter Enamel Shapes. I love these so much the really dress up any project!

Month Box: January + Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day

Back with another fun family gift! This is another gift we created for our family members and is part of the "Year Gift" we made. If you would like to see more info about this awesome project we created and what I've shared so far click on the little tag on the left side of my blog labeled Year of Gifts or visit HERE or visit my pinterest board  Rubber Redneck Year Gifts to see them all in one spot.

January Month

At the beginning of each month; each family has a box to open on the first of the month besides the random days we picked out of each month.  In this month box is a fact sheet we put together about the month it includes the following: the history of the month's name, historical things that happened for the month on select dates, and what the month is know for. (It's pretty cool as I am a huge history buff so I love these sheets we created!) Each month is know for a lot of things so we just picked a few things that we thought would be fun to learn about. January Box features the following; National Blood Donor Month, Hot Tea Month, National Soup Month, Letter Writing Week. For the Hot Tea Month and National Soup Month we included tea packets and a can of soup.

What we did:

Blood Donor Kit

Blood Donor Month: We put together a fun kit with a band aid and cotton balls to use after donating blood. I put it all in a cellophane bag. Along with the kit I created a tag to go onto the little package. I printed them out onto Whisper White card stock and made a little red cross from our Real Red card stock. Then attached with some retired Pop of Pink Washi Tape.

Here is the PDF Tag I created if you would like to make one. Print it out onto card stock.

National Letter Writing Week: This is the 2nd Week of January. I picked this event for sentimental reasons. Growing up as a kid my grandparents would go south to Florida and we would write letters to my grandparents so I wanted the kids to write letters. The fun part about this I didn't stop and think about it but kids don't do this anymore we have email and cellphones for texting. My cousin's kids had never written a letter before so it was a great learning experience for them. It was so awesome to have a hand in teaching them something.

Here I am reading the letters I received in the mail!! It was so cool to get letters from the kiddos.

National Letter Writing Week

I created a little packet using a Manila Envelope. Inside the envelope was paper, pencil and envelopes. I created a tag to print out and attach to the envelope. I used the Better Together Stamp Set to stamp onto the tag and envelope in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I dressed up the envelope with the Pop of Pink Washi Tape (retired).  I had a lot of fun putting this month box together.

Here is the PDF Tag I created if you would like to make one. Print it out onto card stock.

Better Together

This is a great set and covers a variety of moments and worked perfect for our year gift! You can still purchase this set.

Supplies Used
Stamps: Better Together, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Holly Jolly Greetings
Ink:Tuxedo Black Memento Ink
Paper: Whisper White, Real Red
Acc.: Pop of Paradise Washi Tape, 3 x 4 Cellophane Bags

Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day

This was one of the Odd Ball Holidays we did. Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day is January 30th. I cracked up when I saw this and I thought the kiddo's would get a laugh out of it and they did.

Here is the PDF Tag I created if you would like to make one. Print it out onto card stock.
