To create a 2 page layout, you want them to flow nice and compliment each other when there both put together. So it's the basic concept of the Progressive Page. I work on both pages at the same time. I don't glue them together until I know where I want everything for sure.

Tip~ I love are Anywhere Glue Sticks for scrapbooking!! They bond better to the paper and go a lot farther then any other adhesive. Also when working with the Anywhere Glue Sticks you can lightly press your corners down first to make sure you have everything straight if not you can gently pull it back up and move it where need be.

My base is Tangerine Tango card stock, then a piece of Basic card stock. I cut a piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock; I took the Sanded Background Stamp inked it in Pear Pizzazz and stamped all over the Pear Pizzazz card stock. I then sponged Basic Black ink around the edges. At the top I cut one of the designer images out of the Designer Series Paper Nite Owl and used it as my title for this layout. I sponged Tangerine Tango ink around the edges of it.

Tip~ To save on card stock I cut my piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock long enough to slide under the printed "The nite owl image".

I cut a piece of 1 1/4 Basic Black Stripped Grosgrain Ribbon in half. I then frayed out the edges and wrapped it around the Pear Pizzazz card stock. I then glued down the bottom of the printed paper to the top of the ribbon. On the sides I took two strips of DSP Nite Owl, punched out one side of each piece with the Scallop Trim Border Punch, then glued to the back of the Pear Pizzazz card stock. I mounted my photo onto a piece of Basic Black card stock then placed it in the center.

I cut a piece of Tangerine Tango card stock, and one of the preprinted images from the DSP Nite Owl. On the DSP I sponged the edges with Pear Pizzazz, Tangerine Tango and Basic Black. I glued it to the Tangerine Tango. I took the Mat Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool and punched holes down both sides of the Tangerine Tango. I took some of that left over string from the 1 1/4 Basic Black Stripped Grosgrain and wrapped it around my image. At the top of it I punched out a piece of Tangerine Tango with the Curly Label Punch, sponged the edges with Basic Black ink. I then added some more string and a Designer Jewels Black Flourish. I placed it a little over the photo to balance out the page. I love Stampin' Up!'s DSP!!! There is just so many different things you can do with it!

I took the Raven from the Dark and Dreary Stamp Set; inked it in Basic Black and then stamped it on the right hand bottom of the page. On the left side I did all of my journaling with Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker. Underneath I added some Designer Jewels Black Flourish to finish off the page.

Tip~ Before journaling on your page, do your journaling on a scratch piece of paper and lay it on your layout to see if you like were it will be.

Tip~ Want your Jewels to look straight and have perfect spacing? Grab the Mat Pack and a pencil, were you would poke holes instead lightly put a dot there with your pencil. Then place your Jewels over the top of your dots!

This completes my Vintage Halloween Layout! I hope you have enjoyed the pages!!!

Supplies Used~

Stamps~Dark and Dreary, Sanded Background
Ink~Basic Black, Pear Pizzazz
Paper~Basic Black, Pear Pizzazz, Tangerine Tango, DSP Nite Owl
Acc.~Decorative Label Punch, Curly Label Punch, Scallop Trim Border Punch, Designer Jewels Black Flourish, 1 1/4 Basic Black Stripped Grosgrain Ribbon, Crochet Trim Victoria 5/8, Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker, Sponge Daubers, Mat Pack, Paper Piercing Tool, Sticky Strip, Anywhere Glue Sticks, Stampin' Dimensionals

Morning everyone!

I love all Holidays! I love to decorate and make things specifically for that holiday!! I love working for Stampin' Up! not only do they have good products they also sell many wonderful items that you can use to make home decor items!!! This year in the Holiday Mini Catalog on pg 6 they had a picture frame that I just loved the hole idea and was going to copy since I had all of the supplies they used. See I told you! I really went completely different route with it! lol I love it though and it is more me! I started by putting my Spooky Things Decor Elements on the Glass. I then took the Raven from Dark and Dreary Stamp Set inked in Basic Black and stamped around on the card stock.

I cut a piece of DSP Newsprint, stamped the Raven in Basic Black ink, crumpled it up and sponged the following colors Cajun Craze, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Basic Black. I then snailed it to the left side of the Cajun Craze card stock. I took some 1 1/4 Black Stripped Grosgrain Ribbon, cut it and then frayed out the edges. I attached that to the left as well. I then took some Crochet Trim Victoria 5/8, folded it back and forth and placed it on the seam of the DSP and 1 1/4 Basic Black Grosgrain Ribbon. I then added Designer Jewels Black Flourish to every other loop. I took the Color Spritzer Tool and the Cajun Craze Stampin' Write Marker; and spritzed all over the completed piece of card stock. I put the card stock in the frame and closed it up.

In the upper left hand corner I took my other half of the 1 1/4 Basic Black Stripped Grosgrain Ribbon; frayed the edges and made a bow. I took the Crochet Trim Victoria 5/8 made a bow with it and attached it to the other bow. In the center I placed an Antique Brad to finish it off. I then took Jewels Basic Pearls and added them to the glass to dress it up a little more.

I love how this turned out!! It was so much fun to make this too!!!

I don't know if you've heard the phrase there is no wrong way to scrapbook well when scrapbooking your heritage pictures there is!!! NEVER EVER USE THE ORIGINALS!! Did you get that? lol Why you ask? Old pictures didn't have the ink quality that we have today that lasts for years to come. Old pictures really fade fast!! So here are some tips for you for storing and handling your old pictures.

Tips~
1. Never use the original picture, make copies of the original picture then store the original in an Acid Free box in a dry moderate room temperature. I also scanned all my old pictures and backed them up on a CD. Are yours just thrown in some where? I am having a heart attack for you right now! lol Get them out and store them properly!!

2. Never handle the original pictures without acid fee gloves on. Old pictures especially tin types will suck in the grease from your fingers and hands and you'll have that all over your original picture, it will eventually eat at the ink on your picture as well. Be very gentle with your pictures when handling them, some can be very brittle with age and the picture can crack or break easily. Don't ever allow the pictures to be in direct sunlight the suns rays will break down the picture as well and make them fade over night.

Ok now that I have schooled you the important part of your ancestor pictures we can now begin having some fun with them! lol

My picture is of my Great Grandmother and a friend of hers. They would dress up for there Halloween parties. So since it was a theme I scrapbooked for that theme. I used the colors that were in my Designer Series Paper Nite Owl.

Tip~Use the colors that are in your Scrapbooking Paper Patterns takes the guess work out of it and really makes it easier on you!!

My base is Tangerine Tango card stock, then a piece of Basic card stock. Starting on the left and working to the right of the page I cut piece of DSP Nite Owl I used the Scallop Trim Border Punch on it. On top of it I cut a piece of 1 1/4 Basic Black Stripped Grosgrain Ribbon in half. I then frayed out the edges. I love Stampin' Up!s Designers Series Papers for several reasons!! I cut the Skull border out of the DSP Nite Owl on the one side I left a little bit of the pattern on it. I love this border when I saw it, it looked so vintage.

Tip~The DSP Nite Owl has images that you can cut to use as borders, titles, embellishments or etc. This paper pack goes a long ways for your scrapbooking needs!

I cut a piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock; I took the Sanded Background Stamp inked it in Pear Pizzazz and stamped all over the Pear Pizzazz card stock. I then sponged Basic Black ink around the edges. On the bottom I took the crow from the Dark and Dreary Stamp Set, inked it in Basic Black and stamped along the bottom.

I then mounted my picture on Basic Black card stock and attached to the top of the Pear Pizzazz card stock. I love using are punches different ways. I took the Decorative Label Punch and punched out a piece of Tangerine Tango card stock. I sponged the edges in Basic Black and wrote the year in the center with the Basic Black Stampin' Write Markers. I added to Designer Jewels Black Flourish to finish off my little tag.I took the sting that I pulled from the 1 1/4 Basic Black Stripped Ribbon and wrapped it around the bottom then placed my tag over it with Stampin' Dimesionals. In the upper right hand corner I punched out a piece of Tangerine Tango card stock with the Curly Label Punch, I sponged the edges with Basic Black ink and added some Designer Jewels Black Flourish. I cut a piece of Crochet Trim and added it onto my tag. Stampin' Up! has a lot of great product that works well for scrapbooking your ancestors!!!

Tip~When fraying any ribbon save the strings that you pull out, you can use them latter on, either on the same project or on another project. This way you get more value from your money spent!

Since this is a 2 page layout I did all my journaling on the other page. Be sure to come back next Friday to see the other half of this layout!!
